How RINEX Improves Banking Services for Banks, Customers, and Partners in Rwanda

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, RICTA had the opportunity to meet with IT staff from banks operating in Rwanda to explore the role of the Rwanda Internet Exchange Point (RINEX) in improving banking services. The discussions focused on how RINEX can significantly enhance the experience of both their clients and partners, offering faster, more reliable, and higher-quality connectivity—ultimately contributing to an improved overall banking experience.

What is RINEX?

RINEX, or the Rwanda Internet Exchange Point, serves as a local hub where Internet service providers (ISPs), banks & financial institutions, government bodies, academia, and other content providers can exchange traffic between their networks. By handling Internet traffic locally, RINEX eliminates the need for international routing, enhancing the quality and speed of connectivity. As a result, RINEX provides faster, more reliable services, benefiting both banks and their customers.
