RINEX CAPACITY BUILDING – ADVANCED COURSE

As Internet usage increases globally and becomes part of the day-to-day activities in different organizations and individual users, the interconnection between Internet Service Providers (ISPs), banks, Government, academia, content providers, and users become more and more critical to creating the ‘network of networks that is the Internet.

Governments around the world have given high priority to the development of their national Internet infrastructures to achieve higher levels of Internet penetration among their population. Due to this development of Internet usage a need to establish facilities like Internet exchange points (IXPs) arose, where all Internet players can interconnect directly to each other and exchange local traffic, reducing international transit costs while improving network performance and quality of service.

However, understanding and joining of IXPs has been slow. The most predominant factor affecting the performance and slow acquisition is the lack of technical knowledge that results in fear and reluctance to adopt and use the service. Competent engineers are required to work on the infrastructure setup prior to joining IXP and support day-to-day operations. It is for this reason that RICTA is organizing a four (5) days technical training to:

Provide the required skills in setting up the network infrastructure that enables and supports the IXP operations.
Address the current and future needs of operators in the ICT industry with the required technical skills.
Discuss a wide range of issues of the Internet including the current and newest trends in ICT.

Target Audience:

The training is designed for network engineers, system administrators, and other technical professionals.

Duration:

The Technical training is expected to take 5 days from  13th to 17th November

Venue:

The training venue will be at the University of Rwanda- College of Science and Technology- Kigali Campus.
